THE BLOOMINGTON CAVES

We decided to give Callie the ultimate test to see if she was too girly by taking her deep underground to the Bloomington Caves. She handled them like a champ and we had a fun outing. To get to the Bloomington Caves it takes about 30 minutes of driving on a dirt road south of St. George.
There are a few tricky parts to the cave where you have to climb a series of ropes and here you can see Callie Brady (sitting) and Chad Bowen.

Brady is quite the repeller of girls and off big rocks.

Here we all decided to just look amazing and take a picture more than 200 feet underground!

And here we are back on top and we're not too dirty and we had a sweet trip. Callie even enjoyed her test and passed with flying colors.

Competition

From the famous American Industrialist, Philanthropist, and founder of the Standard Oil Company, comes the famous quote of John D. Rockefeller: "Competition is a sin."

I totally and whole heartedly agree with him.

Tonight was our best of seven a co-ed USU dodgeball finals. We had already beat the opposing team once this season and I started to notice, within my soul, a hint of competitiveness before the game started. We were playing against some good friends that we know, two of them happen to be my roommates, and the warm ups were done without little taunting........

Okay, obviously there existed between our two teams a few good jears here and there, and some good verbal jabs but nothing "too" personal.

Anyways the game was starting, my internal Competitiveness-O-Meter began to pulse just a little. Then game 1 started with quite a few good dodge's ducks, dips, dives, and dodge's (the 5 D's of dodgeball) in the first few seconds of the game, but after about throw number three for me I noted quite a bit of pain in one of my right arm muscles.

I knew that it had to be a "strain," which is when the muscle fibers tear as a result of overstretching one of the approximately 696 musles in the body. I dont know the names of all of them or really any of them but I am pretty sure that I pulled at least 2-3 of them (possibly only 1, or none though). Lets just leave it with; it hurt a lot.

So a true competitor knows the quote, "what doesnt kill you makes you stronger." That quote is blatently stupid......the true competitor would have warmed up his stupid dumb arm up and would have been able to a better competitor......Woah sorry I seem to be getting off on a tangent.

Anyways to make a long story short (and you can probably guess by the negativity in what Im writing) we were defeated by the other team in the end.....It wasnt even a good finals as we lost 4-1.

A good nice ending would have been that I shook everyone's hand, stayed for pictures with friends, and walked my girlfriend home.

Well that didnt happen and I only got to step one, then I grabbed my things and walked straight home. Was it showing good sportsmanship? Definitely....Had I stayed things would have gotten ugly, and I know from experience, for I was once ejected from a churchball game for cursing at the referee. Not one of my most proud moments, but I still hold firm that the referee was very crazy and deserved everything he got:)

When I got home I quickly grabbed some Ibuprofen and got in the shower...... I was standing in the shower thinking of the game. After a few good moments of carelessness in a nice hot shower, I soon became frustrated because I was not able to to lift my arm to shampoo my hair, I couldnt keep my mind off of the game, when I cam to the realization that it was only a game........

haha I wish I would have thought that. I just got more angry in the shoewe and to this moment (I guess its only been an hour and a half since our loss) I am still thinking about the game.....Which brings me to my original quote,"competition is a sin."

Its one of my sins that I enjoy :)

Someday I will probably change my competitive ways....(but probably not.)

If Callie can do it so can I.....

So I just figured out that Callie has a blog of her own and she has been adding a few posts, and I cant be outdone by her so I had better start blogging more often. Tonight we are in the USU Dodgeball Championship, we are playing our roommates so it should be a pretty competitive game of dodgeball! Win or lose, I still have an intremural championship t-shirt that Matt (my brother in law) gave me......Well thats about it...
